Chata Anna

The setting is really pleasant, and the rooms are roomy, so there's a lot of potential here. But the upstairs bedroom has no place for six people's clothes because the owner is using every wardrobe to store her things. The kitchen is tiny and, apart from the plates, the equipment is very worn. It didn't look well cleaned either, and some things seemed like they'd been picked out of the owner's discarded household items. The dining area is extremely small. Drinking water isn't available on tap, though there was bottled water. A bear came onto the partly fenced property every evening. The owner is away from Slovakia for long periods, so someone else deals with things on her behalf. When I raised the cleanliness issue, she offered compensation and said she'd address it in future. I hope she does, because the place could be very good.

It's a quiet, lovely spot with a great view of Gerlach. For food and groceries, the nearest pizzeria and shop are each about 1.5 km away; there's a restaurant with good food around 2 km away.

We stayed in February. It's peaceful here, and not far from the highway exit.

The kids loved it, and so did we. The cottage was amazing, had everything we needed, and the surroundings were beautiful. Our stay went smoothly, and we'd gladly come back. Highly recommend!
