Vila Horec

Friendly staff, a cozy room, and excellent wellness made for a lovely stay. The food was unbelievably good, too. Thanks for our first holiday together in the Tatras. We’ll definitely come back at least once.

This is a nice guesthouse within the Hotel Hubert complex. It could use a facelift, though the facilities are great. The price I got through booking.com included half board, and I found the buffet breakfast and dinner rich and above standard.

We had a wonderful vacation in beautiful surroundings. The food was great, the staff helpful, and all the services were absolutely fine. An amazing experience.

The room was really spacious and clean, and the food was delicious. The pool, sauna, and wellness area were okay, but bathrobes aren’t allowed. That’s useful to know because Vila Horec is a dormitory building about 200 meters from Hotel Hubert, and the restaurant, pool, and saunas are in the hotel, not the villa. Booking.com presents Vila Horec as a hotel and doesn’t explain this. I only found the detail on the hotel website, in Slovak or English, after arriving. If you’re traveling with a child and expect to pop down to the pool in flip-flops, it can be an unpleasant surprise. In good weather you can walk between the buildings, but heavy rain makes the wet walk to meals and recreation difficult. We paid 8,000 PLN for 10 nights, which felt excessive for what we found. The balcony was in terrible shape, with peeling plaster and mold on the walls. There should be one star for lying. Lesson for next time: check the website of the hotel you plan to visit, rather than relying only on booking.
