The staff were friendly, quick to help, and patient with my halting Slovak, which I really appreciated. When I arrived soaked after cycling through the rain all day on September 14, 2024, the manager welcomed me warmly and treated me with respect. I think her name was Iveta, though I may have that wrong. She spoke German and a little English, found a secure indoor place for my bicycle, and showed me to my room. I spent September 14-17 at Hotel Panda while cycling across Slovakia. I’d stopped in Turcianske Teplice for a few days to wait out the rain brought by Storm Boris. The room wasn’t especially large, but it was good value and had what I needed: a little fridge, a kettle, and a small table. I had breakfast and dinner at the restaurant, along with several coffees. Breakfast was good with a nice selection. Dinner was tasty too, though it seemed a bit expensive. To be fair, I was burning 4-5 thousand calories a day on the bike and eating a lot. I enjoyed the meals most when I ordered at the bar and ate there. AquaPark Spa was a short walk away, and I went twice. It did my tired legs a lot of good. There were also two grocery stores within walking distance, which was very handy without a car. It was a pleasant stay, and I’d come back if I’m in the area again.
