Miramonti Resort

For the price, this is a nice hotel. The rooms are simple but do the job, and both breakfast and dinner were quite good. I especially liked the soups. After a long mountain hike, the sauna is a lovely option, though you have to pay extra to use it.

The location worked really well for getting around. The railway station is just a three-minute walk away, and the train to the main rail junction at Stary Smokovec takes only four minutes. From our room I could watch the trains and check the weather over the mountains, especially Lomnicky peak, which helped me plan hikes. My son also spent some free time at the big playground beside the Childrens SPA hotel. I stayed eight nights in August 2023 with my 10-year-old boy. We had a two-person apartment rather than Bed & Breakfast, and it was clean with enough room for us. The kitchenette had a fridge and enough things to prepare small meals. I would have liked more shelves in the shower area, since there wasn’t anywhere to hang a second towel, trousers or pyjamas. If I return to the Tatras, I may choose Miramonti again. Good price and service for what you get.

We paused to take in the view during a road-bike ride from Zakopane in Poland to Slovakia and back. Tatry feels mythical.

Getting around is easy: the local train station is very close, parking is free and nearby, and the main Tatras spots are reachable by car or train. Stary Smokovce is a little way off, about five minutes by car. The main building feels old-fashioned, but it’s clean and in good shape. The hotel doesn’t have much entertainment beyond table soccer and table tennis, though there’s a play corner in the restaurant for younger children. The staff were very kind and helpful. Half board is good value too. Breakfast is a fresh, tasty standard buffet, though it could get repetitive after a few days. Dinner comes as a menu with a choice of two main courses, plus soup, salad and cake. The portions are nice and the food is tasty, typical local fare. A good choice for shorter stays.
