Penzion Havran

The mountain and meadow views at breakfast always took my breath away. The soups Ferko and Nelka make are unlike any I've had elsewhere, and their breakfasts and dinners are excellent too. They look after guests so well, and their friendly, family-like way of treating people always makes me feel comfortable. The place has a lovely folk style, with traditional Slovak touches throughout. We've been coming with my family for years, and I'm always sad to leave. We go a bit wild together over ping pong, then sit chatting and enjoying ourselves in the common room. For some quiet time, there's a sauna and jacuzzi. Shops and excellent restaurants are nearby, with plenty of options for trips or skiing. I can hardly wait for next year and another wonderful stay.

The guesthouse is in a peaceful, quiet area, with a beautiful view of the Tatra Mountains. There's a ski slope next door that's great for children and less experienced skiers. Bachledka's extensive slopes are a little farther away, and Tatra Lomnica is a few dozen kilometers away. There's plenty to do around there, and since it's a border area, communicating in Polish is no problem. We first found this place three years ago and now return every year for vacation. The owners are wonderful, and we have a beautiful room with a fireplace where we sit in the evenings. Rooms are spacious and uncluttered, the bathrooms are new, and the whole property is clean and warm. The restaurant is cosy and intimate. There's also a sauna, jacuzzi, and ping pong table, which the kids enjoyed the whole time. Breakfast is generous and varied, and dinner comes in two courses, soup followed by a main, all Slovak cuisine. The food is delicious and so plentiful it can be overwhelming. Beer, wine, and other spirits are very well priced. I highly recommend the place, and we'll be back next year.

The hosts are very nice and friendly, and the home-cooked food is excellent. The guesthouse is beautiful and cosy, in a great location, with nothing to complain about when it comes to cleanliness or equipment. I can only recommend it.

There are a few small shops in the village, and the guesthouse works well for skiing or hiking. The rooms have magnificent mountain views, and the prices are favorable. Nelka and Ferko, the owners, are always kind and helpful, and the service has been very good on all our visits to Havran. Breakfast is varied and the dinners are divine. It's worth coming in summer or winter. We can only recommend it, and we'll definitely return.
