Amsy Hotel Amsy Hotel

The place looks nothing like the pictures.

The welcome was pleasant, and the staff were kind. The daytime receptionist with dreadlocks was especially lovely, courteous, professional, and always smiling. But cleanliness was badly neglected. There were lots of cockroaches in the room and hallway, and what looked like fleas or bedbugs on the bed. The blanket was stained and had no duvet cover, the floor wasn’t very clean, and the furniture was dusty. I asked reception for fresh sheets and changed them myself. There was no cleaning staff around when I arrived, which I understand, but the room still left me stressed and miserable all night. I couldn’t mentally deal with the situation. I had no other option and needed somewhere to stay for the night. For a room with a bathroom at 30,000 FCFA, or €45, a night, it’s a real shame.

The restaurant is good. A few small adjustments to various things would make it better. 🙏

I really liked the family feel, the warm welcome, the helpful staff, and the very good breakfast during my 6 nights at Amsy Hotel. But the rooms weren’t clean: the floors were never cleaned, and there was no hot water, so washing with cold water in the morning was unpleasant. The duvet had dirty, very smelly yellow stains, and wasn’t changed even after I asked. That’s why I’m giving it 3 stars. If I come back to Dakar, I don’t think I’ll stay at Amsy Hotel again.
