The building has a lot of character, with art throughout and an amazing history. I loved the peaceful garden and the rooftop views across the city. The management were kind and welcoming, and there’s a modest beach spot just a few meters from the hotel.

The price listed online was 10,000 CFA a night, but when we arrived they said it was 20,000 CFA and that the website hadn’t been updated. Since you’re already on the island, where else are you supposed to go? The electricity went out two nights in a row, so there was no ventilation while sleeping. Wi-Fi didn’t work either, and the night guard was unhelpful and rude. This felt like a scam.

We went to their New Year’s Eve party. The food was really good, and the atmosphere was so much fun.

We only stopped on the island for the day, so this is just about the food. We had chicken yassa at one of the nice tables overlooking the beach, and it was delicious. The waitress was friendly, and the view was lovely and relaxing. We’d happily eat here again.
