Lighthouse Signature Suites

The apartments were very good quality, and most places we visited in Dakar were easy to reach from there. The staff did their best to make our stay comfortable, and they deserve credit for that, given the time and resources they had. If the problems I encountered were fixed, I’d definitely stay again. I did wonder whether the building was still being built or refurbished. The hood was still boxed up on the kitchen floor. The washing machine wasn’t connected, and the electric cooker sat in the middle of the kitchen unplugged. Staff came quickly when I called, moved it to another wall, and plugged it in, but the cord had to run across the draining board to reach a socket. It felt like the designer had only thought of power for it as an afterthought. The water came out brown when I first tried to wash my hands, though it cleared after running for a while. The hot water didn’t work at first and kept cutting in and out after staff looked at it, so I had a few cold showers. The lounge AC was also out. It was very warm in there, and when the cleaners opened all the windows while cleaning, the whole apartment got hotter. We had to use our friends’ apartment on another floor until the unit was fixed, then wait for the AC to cool the different areas again. The building seemed to be in the middle of a construction site. If I’d seen the outside and the surroundings beforebooking, I probably would’ve chosen somewhere else. See video.

A new, clean, pleasant place at a very affordable price. There weren’t any amenities, but Cafe Melo is a nice cafe nearby. It’s also close to the main road, so taxis and local attractions are easy to access.

I’m leaving because I hate this place and regret spending the money. The apartment was still under construction, with no bathroom in my room, no washer, and no front desk. I’m glad my husband advised me to pay for just one week. Maybe it’ll be finished someday, but as of July 2025 it wasn’t complete.
