Hotel Mama Maria

The setting is beautiful, with a small lake full of birds and two crocodiles on one side, and the sea and beach on the other. But Kafoutine's fishing fleet is based there, so it's not a place for swimming or sunbathing. The hotel has faded grandeur now, though it must have been beautiful once. You can't get there by car anymore, so with all your luggage you have to walk about 400 meters from the main road along a footpath. The building is attractive and the rooms are tidy, but there were no mosquito nets, despite being told there wouldn't be mosquitoes. There were, and we had a very bad night. Breakfast was stale bread and moldy butter. The Spanish host was helpful at first, but got furious when we said we'd leave after one night instead of the two we'd booked. He blamed us, then cursed at us as we left. Very unprofessional! Tip: try the neighbours, Natur Ubuntu, a beautiful lodge with a nice atmosphere and good food.

“An oasis in the desert.” It was right on the beach, and everything was a ten out of ten! Very clean, with great food and service. For travelers, the hygiene details really matter: filtered water, hot and cold water, toilets, and mosquito nets. They take great care to help avoid gastroenteritis and bites.

Paradise for a winter holiday in Spain, with great food, peace and quiet, and excellent service. The owner is always attentive to what we need. I'll be back! 👍🏽👍🏽
