The river setting and all the spots to sit and unwind made this a lovely place to pause. There’s a pool too, and a pet bird that wolf-whistled at us. I really liked the food, especially the wild boar, and enjoyed my stay so much I wish I could return.
The clean surroundings and welcoming staff gave the place a homely feel, and the breakfast was lovely, warm croissants and coffee I brewed myself with a view of the River Gambia about 150m away. Our room was neat, and the chalets sleep three people per room, which worked well for tourists passing through. We arrived late, but Phillipe turned on the pool lights so we could swim at 9pm. He’s a great host. We only stayed one night, but thoroughly enjoyed it, and it’s definitely the best place to stay in Kédougou.
There’s a medium sized pool with shaded seating around it, and the rooms are big with comfortable beds. The staff are friendly. Only some of them speak English, but they do their best to help.
The nearby mining workers showed up drunk every night, partying and blasting music until they left at 4 am, still playing it. We were next to their room and could hear them vomiting as they woke from their drunken sleep. The owner seemed completely indifferent, giving a half-hearted “sorry” while looking after the miners. We left early, and other guests did too. Avoid!!!
I was really disappointed with the price for what you get. The place is really dirty, and everything is broken or feels like it’ll break if you touch it. There’s a restaurant, but the unfriendly, unmotivated staff took two hours to bring our food. At least it tasted good. Le Bedik seems much better, just across the road.
