Overbridge River Resort

A heads-up for anyone considering this place: what might be called a resort internationally is really an eco lodge. The natural setting has a lot of potential, but the facilities are very dated and need serious care. There were broken tiles, rust on the minibar and microwave, stains on the pillows and pillowcases, and moldy pool chairs, with very few chairs available. Our room had hundreds of mosquitoes, and it took us about half an hour to get rid of them. There wasn't even a bar of soap. No TV, and the WiFi wasn't good. The restaurant closes at 6, sometimes 7, so order far in advance because food takes a long time. There's no room service, so you have to pick it up and carry it to your room. The food wasn't very good, and the closest place to get anything else was a Chinese convenience store 30 minutes away. Don't count on fresh coffee in the morning, either, just instant coffee and hot water.

🇬🇾 A lovely family getaway, and we'd like to make it a yearly visit. The cabin was clean and the kids had a great time in the pool. Breakfast was good, too. Dinner was disappointing, though: we ordered two fish meals after asking if the fish was grilled and being told yes, but it came fried. They also need an English menu for guests who don't speak Dutch. Apart from that, everything was great. 😘

The service was okay overall, and we enjoyed the heated pool at night. The infinity pool looked dirty, as if its water wasn't being refreshed regularly. The other beach areas depend on the river's water level. Rooms were clean and nice, with air conditioning, but the walkways get really dark at night and need more lights. Breakfast could use more variety; lunch at the restaurant was better than expected. It's not too far from Paramaribo, and the road was in good condition. Would definitely recommend.

The restaurant food is good, but service there is too slow. It's a pleasant place to unwind by yourself or with family and friends. There's a lot of potential if the upkeep improves, and the natural-water pool should be changed more often to make it more hygienic.
