The air conditioning was a relief in San Miguel’s heat, but the WiFi kept cutting out. Staff didn’t seem keen to help. At meals, they’d watch while my drink sat empty and only come over if I called. I wondered if being a foreigner made a difference, since they seemed friendlier with locals. And if your room is by the pool, expect loud noise from guests until midnight.

The worst part was a Christmas party in the courtyard. The music was so loud I could hear it through noise-cancelling headphones at full volume. They said it would end at 11, but it went on until 12:15 a.m. I also had cold showers, and the WiFi didn’t reach my room. Awful stay.

The pool was clean and nice, and so were the rooms. Had a great stay.

Staff were friendly and helpful, and I liked the breakfast buffet. The rooms are nice too. Parking is a little tight, and the A/C units aren’t great, though they do the job. I wish the rooms had microwaves and mini fridges.

We’d booked five nights, but left after the first. The room and bathroom were dirty, dated, and falling apart. The place looks nothing like the online photos. They need to improve this hotel.
