Dawn Beach Club Resort Sint Maarten

We were supposed to spend Christmas at Dawn Beach Club Resort, Sint Maarten, with our family, but the reservation was canceled at the last minute. We're a retired couple traveling with our children and grandchildren, and we'd planned this carefully months ahead. We chose the resort hoping for a comfortable, safe place where everyone could enjoy the holiday together. The cancellation came with almost no time to find another realistic option during the busiest week of the year. We had already committed money to ferry reservations, car rentals, tickets, and other attractions, and lost money on those plans. Scrambling to reorganize everything during peak travel also cost us time and caused a lot of stress. In Sint Maarten at Christmas, choices are limited, prices rise, and the places still available may be unsuitable or far beyond budget for a whole family. The hardest part was telling our grandkids, who'd been counting down, talking about the beach, and looking forward to Christmas together. They didn't understand why the stay suddenly wasn't happening. Seeing their excitement turn to confusion and sadness right before the holiday was heartbreaking. We know unexpected situations can arise, but canceling this close to Christmas caused a major disruption and real financial loss. A property connected with family travel should understand the impact. Based on our experience, I can't recommend booking Dawn Beach Club Resort for an important trip, especially during a holiday. The risk and fallout from a late cancellation are too great. If you book, have a backup plan and avoid nonrefundable arrangements until you're sure the stay is secure.

Watch out for the TimeShare scam. They hand out scratch-off tickets and claim only a few lucky people win, but apparently everyone gets a prize to lure them into a visit. Then comes an endless presentation packed with manipulative, high-pressure sales tactics. The prize itself is a scam too: no money, iPhone, or iPad, just a worthless piece of paper for a trip nobody will ever use. Don't waste your time. RUN! Their practices felt shady from beginning to end.

The daily sunrise yoga was the highlight of my Christmas week at Dawn Beach Club. Moving and breathing as the sun came up made me feel grateful for the setting and started each day beautifully. Don, the yoga teacher, is fantastic. He meets students where they are and offers plenty of modifications. I'm a yoga teacher myself, and Don is the real deal. Dawn Beach Club is lucky to have him. The condo was lovely and had everything we needed. The pools were great, and being right on the beach worked perfectly for my family and me.

Don's early morning yoga is such a lovely way to greet the day. The flow suits the sunrise moment, and he has an excellent instinct for adapting to what his clients need. Grateful for the experience.
