Tamarind Hotel Suite

This isn't really a hotel; it's been turned into rental apartments. The shared pool was cleaned every day, but the communal waste area is left open, bringing rats and all sorts of other creatures looking for food. It's near the port and away from town, with barking dogs and industrial buildings all around.

I've lived in three different apartments here, though I didn't pay for the stay, so I can't say whether it's cheaper than other places on the island. Two of the three apartments weren't very good. Some had very old wooden furniture that began to smell bad. The AC was noisy, and the bedroom windows had no glass, just a mesh covered by wood, so outside noise came straight into the room at any time. You have to pay for wireless internet, which is fine, except the signal barely works. I had to take my device outside just to use the connection I was paying for. Sorry, folks, but that's how it was.

Tamarind Hotel was still in good shape after hurricane Irma. The people are friendly, there's a pool, and it's close to the city, shops, and a market where you can buy food and drinks. Repairs are still underway and seem to be going well. It's cheap for a few days' vacation, though living here is another matter. The place is small but cozy, and a nice spot to stay when you're starting out. Highly recommended. My internet only reached about 1 MB per second, apparently because of the placement, but you can speed it up by buying more equipment.

Alexandru Tamarind hotel is a really nice place, with a pool and lovely apartments. The service is perfect, and in the morning you can smell the fresh flowers blooming. Alexandru, you jealous MANIAC!!!!!! :/
