Lidwala Lodge

My room was on the small side, but comfortable and had what I needed for a place to rest while on holiday. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help. Air-conditioning would have been a plus.

The lodge sits on a hillside and has a lovely garden, plus secure parking. There's a spa and restaurant on site. The bathroom was a bit small.

We tried to go to the Velvet Monkey for dinner, but with no security guard at the gate to point us the right way, we parked up by the lodge. A lodge worker led us down the grassy path and stairs toward the restaurant. We wish we'd been told to use the parking lot instead, because the shopping centre's side path was pitch black. Even with our phone lights, my girlfriend tripped over a big rock by a tree, fell hard, sprained her wrist, and bruised her shoulder. She screamed, but nobody came to check on us afterward. I'm pretty sure the lodge could hear it, since we were just over the little wooden bridge. She was covered in dirt too, which made an already awful situation more embarrassing. I'm not usually dramatic, but the whole thing ruined our evening. The shopping centre should have had proper lighting on a path meant for public use, especially since we were directed there. It was abjectly dangerous. I hope they install lights.

The river running through the complex made for a peaceful break from everyday stress. Staff were so friendly and helpful, and the room was fantastic, with a very comfortable bed and pillows, plus a superb shower and private bathroom. An incredible gem, definitely worth booking, and often.
