Bohio Dive Resort

The family arrangements all went smoothly, thanks to owners Ginny and Tom, who were welcoming and clearly knew their stuff. DJ and Pablo took great care of all our dive needs and made the kids' first dives feel magical. Henry patiently and professionally guided our three children through open water certification in the shallow, clear water just off the beach, only steps from the dive shop and our rooms. There are terrific dive sites a short boat ride away. After a two-tank dive, we could unwind on the beach, snorkel, or take out the paddleboards and kayaks. The rooms were clean, with lovely views, and the whole week felt relaxed because the friendly staff looked after everything. The food was very good too. I'll remember my last bowl of Conch chowder, served in a real half conch shell, for a long time. I almost want to keep this gem to myself, but it was one of our favorite vacations ever. Thanks, Bohio. We'll be back!

The beach is beautiful, and the resort as a whole is a solid four stars. Diving is good, though fairly typical Caribbean wall diving rather than anything outstanding. The restaurant is good and serves huge portions. Breakfast and lunch come with the all-inclusive plan, which was plenty for the day; a dinner pizza could easily feed two. There are better restaurants elsewhere on the island, though. The rooms are nice. There's no in-room safe, but the place is quiet and people noticed strangers, so I never worried about my belongings. Lower rooms can pick up footsteps and noise through the floors from the room above. A good resort, just not quite five-star level.

Grand Turk is very quiet, and this resort felt like an oasis. I liked that locals also came by to eat and dance. The food was surprisingly good, there's a fun bar, and most nights had different live music. The rooms are clean and basic, with great views. The boat is really nice, and Jason, the main dive master, is excellent. There was plenty of fun fish life, including sharks, turtles, octopus, pufferfish, pet groupers and morays. Most dives were around 60-70 feet. It was also nice hanging out with the other divers, nobody stayed glued to their electronics. A five-star dive resort for us.

We got six of the eight dives we'd scheduled, which felt like a win given the rough weather at the start. The dives were incredible, with barracuda, reef sharks, butterfly fish, parrot fish, a huge green moray eel and a turtle among the things we saw. This place helped make the trip a once-in-a-lifetime one. The resort was chilled out and friendly, and even with the weather it felt like paradise. The food was brilliant. My girlfriend is vegan, and although choices were limited, as in much of the TCI, they were able to cater for her. The cocktails were excellent too.
