Hôtel Eda-Oba

The hotel feels like it has seen better days, judging by the pictures in its brochure. It’s a huge, ten-floor building, but quite a few rooms are left in disrepair. The corridors seem to run in every direction, as if an amateur architect laid them out. Staff seem uninterested, and requests often go unanswered. North-facing rooms get a lot of traffic noise, especially on the lower floors. Some occupied rooms are in rough shape too, with bathroom doors that won’t close, which seems to be treated as normal. I’m here for a compulsory ten-day quarantine, and today is only day three. I’m slowly getting used to the place, though not happily.

After our flight was cancelled, the airline put us up here for the night. The staff were really rude, the rooms were disastrous, and there was no sense of security. The online photos looked like they were from the 1970s. I checked out after two hours and booked somewhere else myself.

The rooms are clean, but old and not especially well kept. Staff weren’t very cordial or polite, and there’s no Wi-Fi at reception. For an average hotel like this, I wouldn’t pay more than USD 40 a night.

It’s a good-looking building, but the upkeep is careless. I called reception and nobody picked up. What if there had been an emergency? They really need to pay closer attention to maintenance and care.
