Green View Village Resort

I liked having a spacious room with pool access, and the swimming pool itself was great. My room's AC didn't work, but the staff changed my room and even upgraded it. It's very close to some good shops, a spa, and restaurants. There's also a free shuttle to Ao Nang beach, though the night market is still a long way from where it drops you off. I prefer to focus on the good parts and leave the negatives to other reviewers. It was our last day in the country, and Thai people and foreigners had mostly been kind to us. One suggestion: be nice to receptionists and staff. At first they may seem uninterested or less bothered, maybe that's a work culture issue, but being consistently and genuinely kind seemed to lift their spirits. It worked for me.

It's peaceful and green all around, and the rooms are spacious and clean. There are Indian and Thai restaurants just outside the resort, with lots more options a little farther along the main road. The resort runs a free shuttle to the beach every hour and can arrange an airport cab if you ask. The main drawback is that the front desk doesn't respond to emails, and there isn't a phone in the room to call reception. If you need help, you have to message them on WhatsApp. Otherwise, it was a very nice experience.

The room smelled of drainage even though we'd paid a lot. We complained every day, but all they did was spray air freshener once. They don't provide toiletries either. Even when you ask for something, they'll just say, “we no have.” Service was terrible, especially for Indian vegetarians. If you're Indian and vegetarian, skip this place. There was no Grab or Bolt available, so the choices were to walk 1km to the main market every day or use the hotel shuttle, which runs hourly and won't wait even a minute. I'd suggest staying at Holiday Inn instead. Our experience got so bad we nearly missed our flight home. Just before we were due to leave, staff falsely blamed us for something and started arguing. We showed CCTV proof that they were wrong, but then they threatened to take us to the police. A horrible experience.

We had a very good stay. There are two pools, both fabulous and well maintained, and a free shuttle runs every hour between the resort and ao nang beach, about 1.2 km away. It won't drop you off somewhere in between, though. The 7 eleven is a five-minute walk, and there are lots of food options nearby. We booked four rooms, but because it was high season we ended up with two thai villas, one standard bunglow twin, and one comfort double room with balcony. If you want to wake up to a mountain view, choose the balcony room. The Thai villas have big rooms, average bathrooms, and a nice location with a spacious patio. Monitor lizards roam near the villas. Staff say one has lived there since birth and won't harm you if you don't disturb it. Close the doors, as the greenery can bring bugs inside. The standard bunglow twin is in front of the pool, a bit old but still good, with a nice patio and the same lizard issue. The comfort room with balcony was the best of the lot, though there's NO LIFT. It's in a new building with modern facilities, has a large room and separate entrance foyer, and the ground-floor rooms open directly onto the pool. The best part was the sunset from the balcony. If you're a pure vegetarian, breakfast may be tricky. Even the bread and other options in the vegetarian section contain egg. That's standard practice in Thailand, so the resort is following local practice, but you have to specifically ask for no eggs. Pure vegetarian Indians can try Kailash parvati. For global cuisine, there's planterian, and bougainvillea pizzeria is good too.
