Nongthale Mountain View

A fantastic spot for a quiet holiday, about ten minutes by scooter from Ao Nang. The owner and staff were very helpful, and even though we arrived fairly late, check-in was no problem at all. Highly recommend! :)

The setting is lovely, with mountains and greenery all around, and the pool was the cleanest I saw in Thailand. Our room was great too, with a little private deck or balcony, and the whole place was clean indoors and out. Staff were really nice, and arriving around 7 PM was no problem since check-in is handled at the pool. It’s a handy base for heading northwest of Ao Nang. Dragon Crest Hike, Tiger-Cave, and the ATV jungle adventure are close by and fun, and there are national parks farther up the coast. It also suited us when we wanted a break from the busy, party-style city atmosphere. There’s a scooter rental right beside the hotel, with a deposit of about 2,000 baht per bike or a passport, which was the smallest fee I’d seen. Breakfast is available for 150 baht per meal. Nothing special, but it was a relaxed start by the pool. You can also buy cold water and drinks there for around 20 baht. The only little issue was a gap between the door and wall, and one night a cute gecko got into our room. It seems like an easy fix, and the air conditioning worked so well it kept the mosquitoes out. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

A good pick if you want to stay away from party noise. The hotel is outside the city, and it was quiet when we visited in October, with really nice weather. The pool was clean, and drinks were available from a cooler at a fair price. Our room was clean and had good air conditioning. A Grab ride to Krabi was 250 baht and to AoNang was 150 baht. The hotel recommended a scooter rental for 300 baht a day.

The best part was the peaceful setting and the pretty surroundings. The rest of the experience was good overall, though there were a few snags. In one room we couldn’t switch off the air conditioning, and the TV was quite old with no modern services like YouTube or Netflix. We left the “make room” hanger outside, but the room still hadn’t been cleaned when we got back. For much of the day nobody was at the office, so requests had to be written on paper.
