The friendly staff are the hotel’s saving grace, along with its very central spot right by the road. But the property doesn’t live up to its four-star status or 4.5 ratings, and feels like three stars at best. The resort is showing a lot of age, maintenance needs attention, and cleanliness is an issue: there was rubbish by the elevator and around the grounds. The rooms are in two buildings. If you’re in the lower one, checkout means dragging luggage up a steep ramp in the heat or rain to the upper building, where the lobby is. Check-in and checkout are difficult and inefficient, with no luggage help, locker, or satellite staff at the lower building. I wouldn’t recommend it especially for families with kids, since the process isn’t seamless. The room was as clean as it could be, but still needs improvement and was comfortable enough. The bed was okay, although the sheets felt a little scratchy. The balcony overlooking the cliffs was nice. The bathroom needs more lighting, especially with its black and gray paint.

The room in the newer building by the main road was fantastic. I spent two days here, then moved to a more premium room in the older building with the lobby. That room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the breakfast spread was decent, but it had major water problems throughout the day. There was no water until nearly 5:30 p.m., and even after it came back the pressure was extremely low. At around 5-6K THB, I expected better service. Fixing the water issues would make a big difference to the stay.

Nui made us feel welcome from the start. We had booked a split stay, two nights in a Deluxe room and two in a Supreme room, but she kindly upgraded us to a Deluxe room so we could stay more comfortably without changing rooms. She was warm, professional, attentive, and clearly cared about guests. That thoughtful help made a real difference. Sugar Marina Hotel in Krabi is beautiful, comfortable, and well located, with great rooms and hospitality that comes from the heart. We had a fantastic stay, would happily return, and highly recommend it.

There are lots of useful places within about 100m, including restaurants, massage parlours, a 7 eleven, pharmacy, and laundry service. Mr Krob Bike & Car rental is right across from the hotel, with bikes from 200 Baht for 24 hours and cars from 1000 Baht for 24 hours. The property itself feels surreal, with high-tech rooms facing the mighty cliffs, a varied breakfast menu with different cuisines, and a long swimming pool.

Nui was kind and welcoming as soon as we arrived. We got to the hotel before check-in time, and she went out of her way to arrange early access to our room. It made a big difference after the journey, and her warmth and professionalism really stood out. Lovely hotel and staff.
