The Moon Night Ao nang Hotel

A good budget hotel for its location, but the air conditioning wasn’t working properly. They don’t accept cards, and there’s no elevator, so good luck hauling your luggage.

This is basically a rest house run by two women. There’s no lift and no service staff, so guests have to manage everything themselves. I definitely wouldn’t choose it for a family visit. It’s also quite a distance from Ao Nang beach in Krabi.

The room was excellent, with clean, fresh-smelling surroundings, a nice tile design and a comfortable king-sized bed. The air conditioning worked perfectly, the TV had a good selection of Thai channels, and there was a mini-fridge. We had hot water for showers morning and night. Housekeeping came daily during our 4-night stay, replacing towels, leaving two bottles of mineral water and even changing the duvet. The room smelled fresh after each tidy-up. We had a road-view balcony, which wasn’t bad, and it’s about a 10-minute walk to Ao Nang Beach. The newly renovated hotel has a nice interior, though the outside could use some improvement. The lobby lights and fans were off during the day, probably to save electricity, and at night the lighting was minimal, just enough to get around. The receptionist was friendly and check-in was smooth, but they take cash only, no credit cards or QR payments, and there’s no lift, so we had to use the stairs. There are no toiletries, so bring or buy your own. On the plus side, they brought an extra pillow when we asked, offered a convenient free-flow light breakfast in the lobby, and have a water dispenser for refills.

The sheets were dirty when we arrived, and after the first night ants appeared everywhere, including in the bed and my things. We changed rooms, but there were ants in the bed there too. The bathroom smelled like fish, and the very dated fridge looked disgusting. There are lots of stairs and no elevator, and no pool or other amenities. The front desk staff made me feel judged. Wouldn’t recommend, 3/10 accommodation.
