Wake Up Aonang Hotel

Really helpful staff, and I loved staying here. The pool is sooo great, even though it’s shallow. You’re close to the beach and boats, but can still walk everywhere. One thing to know if it matters to you: there’s no smoking area. You can smoke by the pool, but otherwise you have to go out to the street. Still loved this place.

The female dorm was perfect for my 3-night stay. Wake Up Aonang has what you need to be comfortable, and it’s super clean and feels safe. You’re just steps from the beach, handy for island hopping or a walk, with good food all around. 7-Eleven is just across the road. 10/10, would recommend!

For $57 a night, Wake up Aonang was one of the cheapest and best hotels I stayed in during 3 weeks traveling Thailand. The facilities were useful: I could use the pool at the 4-star Krabi Tipa Resort, and reception had free water and a microwave. Check-out was friendly and quick. At check-in, the gentleman was friendly and fast, told me about the pool access, and brought an extra pillow to my room within 5 minutes. I had to pay a refundable 1,000 THB cash security deposit. Check-in was at 15:00 and check-out at 12:00. My Deluxe room had an unconventional layout that worked fine. It was clean and modern, with good lighting, blackout curtains, air conditioning that cooled the room without blowing at the bed, and a balcony with a partial city and mountain view. The Wi-Fi was good. There was no wardrobe, just a rail for hanging clothes, but the room also had a mini fridge, safe, kettle, hairdryer, and full-length mirror. Water, coffee, and tea were complimentary. The TV worked, though it wasn’t smart and mostly had Thai channels, plus one Arabic, a couple of German, French, Chinese, and English channels. I heard some bar music, traffic, and people talking in the corridor in the evenings, but still had the best sleep I’d had in 3 weeks. The mattress was okay, the pillows very comfortable, and the linen and towels were good quality. Shower pressure and temperature were good. Location-wise, it’s a 1-minute walk to bars, restaurants, shops, and 7-Eleven, and 3 minutes to AoNang Beach. Check-in and check-out both get 5/5, as do the room, facilities, and location. The best part is the location, just a 2-minute walk from the beach, near lots of bars and restaurants, but quiet at night. 7 Eleven is across the road, handy for morning coffee, and Ao Nang Night Market is a 20-30 minute walk away. We stayed a few nights. The rooms were clean and spacious, the beds comfortable, and water was refilled daily. You can use the pool and gym at the other hotel, though I didn’t try them. They looked nice and clean. We used the shared airport shuttle, which worked out cheaper than Bolt or Grab. We also booked a couple of tours at the end of the road. The hotel was the last pickup and one of the first drop-offs. Try J and J TRAVLE TOUR, highly recommended. Their tours were great, with English translation and knowledgeable guides who knew the area and places we were going. They made us feel safe getting on and off the boats. Great value for the price, though remember the 1,000 THB deposit is cash and is returned at the end of your stay. Definitely recommend it if you’re in Krabi for a few nights.
