The free breakfast was the only food I really enjoyed, but the villa cost 4,000 baht for one night. I don't consider that cheap in Thailand for a villa that sleeps six adults. It's in an old villa community, but the garden was messy and could have been kept more carefully. The room was very large, though, and with thorough cleaning I think it could have been clean enough to walk through barefoot. There was dust across nearly the whole floor. The bed in the three-bedroom villa creaked every night whenever I turned over, so my wife couldn't sleep well. The pools by both toilets leaked, too. I speak Thai, but after driving for eight hours, I didn't want to ask to change rooms when we were only there for one night. I'm sharing what happened to us. Everyone wants a good stay.

Kamalar is easily my favorite place in Ayutthaya. The owner looks after everyone, and the houses are spacious and clean. They can provide fresh, delicious meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I highly recommend staying here, whether it's for a short visit or a longer one.

The owner and his daughter took us to the local market, introduced us to all kinds of snacks, and then cooked for us. It was some of the best Thai food we've had, especially the soup. He also showed our sons his parrot collection, helped them pick fruit from the trees in the complex, and bought and filled an inflatable pool so they could cool off. The care started when our son had an accident: the owner drove us to the hospital, stayed for two hours, and organized everything without taking any money for his time. He offered lots of trip ideas and arranged them for far less than we saw advertised elsewhere. The evening boat trip is a must, as is hiring a tuk-tuk for the day. I can't rate this place highly enough.

The houses are spacious, and the food was delicious, served by very friendly people. We had free bikes to explore the area, too. The owner was very kind and drove us to the train station after our stay.

A lovely little gem within walking distance of most Wats. The family was very generous and never nickel-and-dimed us. Going along to the local market was a fantastic experience, and the owner kindly drove us into the town center.
