Baan Sandbox Pattaya Beachfront Villa

The location is great, and the housekeepers were very kind and helpful. Still, our stay in Sandbox 6 was disappointing, and we wouldn’t recommend it unless the serious maintenance concerns are addressed. We found the accommodation on Airbnb. At first, we had a great experience, and because we were travelling as a group of eight and still needed somewhere to stay, we called the host directly to check availability. We spent our first night, Sunday, in Sandbox 2. It was beautiful, spacious, clean, and had an amazing sea view, so we were very pleased and decided to book a full week. Sandbox 2 was already reserved, though, and the host offered Sandbox 6 instead. We accepted, expecting similar quality and upkeep. We moved into Sandbox 6 on Wednesday morning. The house was much smaller, but that wasn’t a major problem for the four adults and two-year-old child who were staying there. Upstairs, though, there was a strong smell of humidity or water pipes. Several rooms showed clear signs of earlier water damage, and the floors had been wet and seemed possibly still wet. The photos would show it clearly. It looked as if carpets had been laid over the floors to hide the damage; underneath, the floor might be rotten and moldy, which could explain the terrible smell. There’s no proper ventilation unless the doors or windows are kept open all the time. We had already paid for the whole week, so we called the host about our concerns and hoped they’d find a solution. We were told to keep the windows open and offered a discount of 1,000 baht per night. Worried about possible health risks, especially for the young child, we asked for a refund for the remaining nights so we could find a safer place. The request was refused. The location is perfect and the staff are lovely, but the humidity or mold smell, visible floor damage, poor ventilation, and possible health risks, especially for young children, were left without a real solution or flexibility from the host.

The sea at sunset was absolutely stunning. The accommodation was clean and well organized, just as it looked in the pictures, with the necessary amenities and a cozy, clean bedroom and bathroom.

We had a great two-night family stay at Sanbox 2 during our trip. There was plenty of bedroom space, a good sea view, a big dining room, and a nice kitchen. A maid was available to help around the clock.

I liked the Muji-style villa, with its efficient, cozy design and use of materials. The villa group has different plans and styles, and this one has four bedrooms across the third and fourth floors. Each room fits at least two people, with room to add up to four or five. There’s a shared bathroom on the third floor and a private shower room on the fourth, plus wardrobes with hangers, towels, toilet paper, a hairdryer, shampoo, body wash, and hand soap. The first and second floors have shared space, with the kitchen on the second floor. It has a range of utensils and cookware for parties, including a corkscrew, nutcracker, bottle opener, and pan. There’s parking for two cars, a hydraulic lift, and a garden with a table and BBQ grill set. On the rooftop, there’s a jacuzzi with colored pool lighting, a party table, and a restroom.
