Sala Bang Pa-in

The bridge over the water was an easy walk, and the staff carried all our luggage to and from the room, so it never became a problem. Our rooms were quiet and beautifully laid out for a relaxed stay. The food was excellent, and the staff were attentive and wonderful.

The hotel feels peaceful and removed, with greenery all around, and it’s well kept and attractive. Service was courteous and wonderful. Our comfortable, clean room had both an inner and outer balcony facing the river. Breakfast was good with plenty of variety, and the spacious, clean pool had enough sunbeds. Getting there is awkward on foot or by car. The sign is small, the road is very narrow, and we couldn’t park close because the river was rising. We left the car at the school parking lot about 500 meters away. The walk to reception included an unstable metal ramp. There’s a 7-Eleven a reasonable distance away on the main road, but we didn’t find restaurants or massage parlors within walking distance. Dinner and drinks were expensive and didn’t feel worth the price for either their quality or the kind of hotel this is. We were also surprised that bubble bath soap cost extra. The location gives you a quiet, disconnected experience, but prices should be fair for Thailand. The tiramisu, for example, had the name and price, but not the quality or taste.

The stylish design, lovely atmosphere, and great service made this a really nice hotel. Breakfast was tasty and made to order, though a small self-serve area with salad, bread, milk, and coffee would have helped. We waited about 30 minutes for the food and were starving, but the staff were clearly busy and working hard, so no complaints. We stayed in early-September and saw some flooding by the lobby entrance. Probably best to avoid the rainy months (Sep-October) when booking.

The hotel was beautiful and peaceful, but it felt too expensive compared with a seaview hotel. For the money, I think it’ll be hard to come back.
