The pool on the fifth floor is small, with loungers, but it was a pleasant extra. My suite was compact yet spacious, with good Thai teak furniture, a dressing area, and a bathroom with both a bath and shower. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, with soft, high-quality linens. They also supplied good bathrobes and slippers, plus complimentary water, soda, and nut snacks every day. The hotel entrance and breakfast room were under renovation while I was there, but the work didn’t affect my stay, and I expect the hotel will be even nicer when it’s done. Breakfast was in a conference room during the work. It was a little repetitive for European guests, perhaps, though there were more savory rice dishes that Asian guests may prefer. Park Silom is right next door, with a 24-hour food store. You can take an escalator through the complex to Sala Daeng BTS without crossing a major road. I’d definitely return to this hotel if I get the chance to visit Bangkok again.

We picked Hotel Le Siam in Silom because we hadn’t stayed in this part of Bangkok before, and the location was ideal. Lumphini Park is walkable, and Sala Daeng on the Silom BTS line is just minutes away, making it easy to get around. Compared with the usual Sukhumvit crowds, Silom felt peaceful, safe, and very convenient. The area has a residential feel and an old-world charm, with a church, a convent school, and older buildings beside newer ones. The hotel is easy to spot on a corner, and its boutique size gave it a calm, personal feel. There’s plenty of food across from the hotel and along the street. The mall next door has a small food court and general store; towards the MRT there are more cafés, restaurants, and shops. Several Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurants in the neighbourhood were a nice bonus. Our standard room was surprisingly roomy, with a large glass window and a nice view, a comfortable bed, and a clean, spacious bathroom. There was room for our luggage, and everything was well maintained. Staff were courteous, helpful, and quick to understand requests. Check-in and checkout were smooth, the rooms were quiet, and other guests were considerate. The only minor issue was the AC, which ran a little too cold and didn’t respond perfectly, so we had to switch it on and off manually at night. Otherwise, we had no complaints. This has been our best-value hotel stay in Bangkok so far, and I’d highly recommend Hotel Le Siam for the connectivity, quiet surroundings, food options, and comfortable rooms.

The location is great and the bedding was good, but that’s about all I liked. The hotel may have been among the best in its time, but it isn’t anymore. I spent about an hour trying different adapters to get my travel ones working. There are no easy-to-reach power outlets by the bed or desk. Two older staff members were rude, especially the older man at reception. On my last day, he greeted other guests at checkout but ignored me. I didn’t feel welcome.

There was no hot water in the room, and breakfast was below standard for Americans. I didn’t see any other foreign guests, and the employees were very rude. When I refused to pay three days in advance, they called the police. Then they said the hotel was full to get us to leave, which was a lie. They wouldn’t accept even half payment for the rooms while I waited for my wire transfer to arrive the next day. Compared with grand centara watergate, this place is a dump, and I’ll never stay again. aira hotel is very close and has a world-class facility and great breakfast.

Park Silom is directly across the road, so there’s easy access to restaurants, a 24-hour supermarket, and the BTS. The hotel itself is mid-range rather than a luxury place with all the extras. Still, the staff are friendly, the rooms clean and spacious, the Wi-Fi steady and free, and the bed comfortable. It’s quiet at night too. For those reasons, it’s become my favorite place to stay.
