Chillax Resort

The hotel feels dated, and there are better places for the price. The rooftop pool is a decent size, with a bar beside it, but the barmaid looked annoyed. When I politely asked if she could add alcohol to a fruit shake, offering to pay extra, she flatly refused. That spoiled the sunset for me. The room layout was odd too. A large bathtub area was divided from the bedroom by a curtain, a kind of fancy touch that belongs in the 80s. The shower was separate, but its door didn’t shut properly and water leaked out.

The surrounding area was good, with bars and restaurants, and Khao San Road is a ten-minute walk away. The main drawback is the distance from Metro or BTS stations, so getting around can take a while. Google number 53 bus, a very local route that costs 8 baht per trip and runs in a large circle every 10 minutes. River ferries are useful too. The rooms were clean, fresh, and fantastic, and the facilities were superb. Staff were friendly, and breakfast was amazing, with lots of European and Thai choices. The balconies look nice but can’t actually be used.

We spent a couple of days here on our way back from Koh Pha Ngan and enjoyed the location. There are lots of small restaurants nearby, and legendary KhaoSan road is close. Nice hotel, with a very good location and its own rooftop swimming pool.

The infinity pool on the roof was great, with clear water and a little bar right beside it. The food was delicious and well priced, and having a gym was a nice bonus. There’s also a massage place next to the gym, though you have to book ahead, and the sessions are only 30 minutes, which isn’t bad. The beds were so comfortable, and the jacuzzi tub was really relaxing. I wish the TV had better channels, but there’s so much to do nearby that you don’t have much time to watch anyway.
