Counting Sheep Hostel

The bathroom was good, and there are free water refills. Khao San road and some cheap food are nearby. It’s only worth it if you get a really good price, though. The room was sweaty hot during the day and freezing at night. I’m pretty sure the breakfast eggs had been left out from the day before. The place wasn’t social at all, and the common area shuts at 7pm.

The hostel itself seemed nice, with roomy bathrooms, space for everyone, and curtains around the beds. But at 4am I woke up to quite a few bedbugs around my pillow, bed, and even on my pyjamas. I left straight away and waited until reception opened at 6:30. I had another night booked, but checked out instead and told them what had happened. They didn’t refund me or even say sorry. I don’t know, if the rooms aren’t being cleaned properly, the least they could do is apologize for making guests uncomfortable and costing them money. Never again. I really don’t recommend it.

It’s very clean, and the beds are still comfortable, though the mattresses may be getting old and due for replacement. The main thing I didn’t like was that they switch off the A/C from 11am to 6pm, which gets really uncomfortable. It suited me as long as I wasn’t spending the daytime inside the hostel. The place is close to Khaosan Road and other tourist spots. The street can look dark at night, but I felt it was safe, with several other hostels along it. There’s good wifi and a basic breakfast with bread and cheese. You can use your own locker, or rent one from reception. Reception is open limited hours, 7am to 7pm, if I remember correctly, but your key lets you into your room 24 hours. There’s a refundable 200 baht deposit. Coffee, water, and some snacks are free. The hostel is quiet both day and night, and the staff are very helpful, even arranging bus bookings. It’s in a good spot near Khaosan Road. My main issue is how cramped it is: around 16-18 people share one room. It should have more space and fewer people.
