Easy sunday

I liked the room, even without a window. The shower’s floor-to-ceiling glass block wall brought in daylight, it smelled nice, and the fixtures, towels, and wall repairs gave it a newly redone feel, though it hadn’t been freshly painted. The pillows and duvet were very comfortable. It was a small but efficient room with an outlet by the bed, good AC and Wi-Fi, and soap and shampoo. The location was great and the place was clean. But I won’t stay here again or recommend it. It’s not good value for the money, even though I wouldn’t tell someone not to go. When I booked Easy Sunday, Agoda messaged to say I’d been approved at The Greens Complex Building and sent a map pin around the corner. That was close, but I’d chosen the original place because it was by a couple of restaurants I like. At check-in, Berry was lovely and friendly, the main bright spot of my stay, but she couldn’t check me in herself. She had me do it on WhatsApp right there at the counter. It was quick, and I got my room number and door code by message, but the code is impossible to remember, so you need your phone every time you unlock the keypad. Berry then walked me to the Easy Sunday building, where I was actually booked. There’s no signage and just one narrow, unmarked walkway in, so I’d never have found it on my own. Giant QR codes on the wall handle self check-in, which felt odd. The downsides: there was no water supplied, no hot water, and the mini fridge had nowhere to plug in. I’m not keen on the code entry system, and they knocked on my door five minutes before checkout to make sure I was leaving, even though I was already heading out. There was only a rain showerhead. The biggest problem came when I wanted to add a night. I texted the WhatsApp number as instructed. They said they couldn’t extend the booking, but told me to make a new reservation through Booking or Agoda, send them the reservation number, and they’d keep me in the same room. That sounded fine, but I couldn’t find my room available online, even though they assured me it was. After going back and forth, we couldn’t sort it out. I asked to pay at the front desk to extend, but that wasn’t possible. They only accepted online bookings and handled customer service on WhatsApp. I couldn’t tell whether the replies came from a bot or a person, but they were always courteous and friendly. Still, it was a big failure, so I checked out and booked around the corner. I’m glad I did: for the same price, I got a much better room.

We’ve just checked out, and I had to leave a review because this place was so bad. We knew there’d be no windows, but didn’t expect the poor ventilation and broken toilet flush to make the room smell so awful. It was also filthy when we arrived, with visible dirt on the floor and what looked like an ant colony behind the mirror. The Wi-Fi technically worked, but the signal was so weak I had to buy extra data to work. It was very loud too. You could hear every word from the hall and neighboring rooms because the doors didn’t close properly. The advertised outdoor chill area was locked the whole time, so I’m not sure why it’s there. The neighborhood and low price are the only saving graces, but there are much better options. Don’t make the mistake of staying here.

Tommy at reception and the rest of the team made us feel welcome with their warm, professional, helpful service. Tommy was especially polite and supportive, and the staff kept checking that guests were comfortable. Everything was well managed, clean, and comfortable, so I enjoyed the stay from check-in through checkout.

The staff were really nice and quick to respond on WhatsApp, but we couldn’t get Booking.com to cancel our reservation and ended up paying to stay elsewhere without a refund. We’d booked The Greens Complex around the corner and got switched to this place. They offered to move us to The Greens Complex the next day, but after checking its facilities, it seemed pretty dismal, much like this one. The room had no window and the towels smelled. The bunk bed seemed unsafe, set high above a tiled floor with gaps and some rough edges.
