The hostel and its staff deserve five stars, and so does Thai culture for me. This is just my own subjective experience. I've managed and worked at three hostels in the USA, so I have some basis for judging it. I'm here for dental treatment, and the location is ideal: BIDC is right across the street, with malls, a busy night market, and the MRT subway nearby to get around the city. My men's dorm pod on agoda cost $6 a night, possibly the cheapest place I've ever stayed. The language gap was real, but I can't expect everyone to understand me when I've arrived from the other side of the planet, in a place that feels almost like another world. They showed me my clean pod and gave me a locker with a key. The bathroom setup is different from what I'm used to, but it does the job and is clean enough. There are desks and enough power outlets in the dorm for working. My pod has a light, little fans, and two USB ports, one of them fast charging. I like the thin mattress. The staff have been pleasant and accommodating. They tried hard to help me book extra nights even with my poor understanding of the language and my own mistakes and misunderstandings. At one point, three or four people were working on a solution. Your experience may vary. As for Thai culture, I don't know what else to say except I'm in love with the Thai people. They're the kindest, most lighthearted, genuine people I've encountered. Every interaction I've had began, continued, and ended with love and respect. I can be sentimental, but this place deserves all the positive feelings. My time here has made my life better and given me more hope. I'm on day three, with 11 more to go. Lucky me.
