Good'uck Hostel at Silom

I was staying next door, and the place looked quaint, so I went in for a quiet beer away from the busy streets. It was relaxed until I saw the bill: the beer cost almost as much as one night's stay. A family selling better beer two steps outside charged a quarter of that. I felt conned, and that was enough to keep me from going back.

I really like the design, and the place is clean and neat. The staff are super nice, friendly, and helpful. I wish every hostel had this standard. My picky concern is the no-shoes rule: it didn't seem consistently enforced. I saw people wearing shoes upstairs in the lounge, and others barefoot downstairs before going up, either way working against the aim of keeping the upper floors clean. They also put a blanket on the bed without a sheet separating you from it. Who knows how often it's washed. Let's hope it's every time.

The staff are very friendly, the location is good, and they have craft beer. But the street out front is noisy, there are no lockers in the room, and the shared space is limited, so it isn't ideal for meeting people. The Wi-Fi wasn't working, possibly because of an overly long lease time that prevented IP assignment.

It's a nice, inexpensive hostel in a good location. The rooms were clean, quiet, and okay. The staff seemed lazy and uninterested, though. Overall, I'd still recommend it.
