Grey Sheep Hostel

Our private room was cozy and tidy, with good WiFi. The host was very nice and had turned on the air conditioning before we arrived so we'd be comfortable in Bangkok's heat. I appreciated the thoughtfulness. It's a clean, bright hostel on the corner of a busy intersection, and I'd stay again when I return to Bangkok.

I arrived at 1 a.m. after a taxi driver at the airport tried to charge me double, 600 baht instead of the usual 300. I asked the male and female hostel staff for help translating, but the man said, "This is not my job," wouldn't look at me, and did not help. He agreed with the driver and pressured me to pay the double fare. I said I didn't want to stay somewhere whose staff wouldn't help. Then he took my luggage, threw it onto the street, said he'd refund what I'd paid, and told me he didn't want me to stay. I didn't want to stay either. I believe a hotel should look after its guests, or at least try to help. I suspect that staff member was cooperating with taxi drivers, but that's my impression. This hotel is a scam and tries to rob tourists. It was a terrible start to my first hour in Bangkok. I would never recommend this place.

Good value for exploring Bangkok, with friendly, helpful staff. The main MRT is within walking distance, and so is Chinatown, with lots of good food. Siam and Paragon are close too, and you can take a bus or taxi. A taxi ride is around ten minutes. I'd recommend staying here.

Really good value for the price, with fast WiFi and a very clean, brand new hostel. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the train station is nearby. Totally recommended.
