The river taxi is a short walk away and came in handy for avoiding traffic on some trips. Staff were friendly, and the beds and pillows were comfortable. I wasn't bothered much by road noise, despite what some other reviewers said. The room was a good size and clean, with a washer-dryer. The lobby is dark, but in a charming way, and the hotel has nice vibes for one of the cheapest Marriott hotels in Bangkok. A few things could be improved, like the stiff sliding cabinets, though they may be part of its old charm. As a Titanium member I got an à la carte breakfast. It could be better, but it did the job.

I was fasting during Ramadan and couldn't have the morning breakfast, so the team offered bonus points instead. That thoughtful extra step really stood out. The reception staff were accommodating and professional, while security and bell staff were pleasant and attentive. They walked me all the way to where I needed to go, which is rare service these days. My Marriott Bonvoy Platinum status was recognized right away, and I got a room upgrade. The room was excellent and much better than I expected from earlier guest comments. I initially booked because of a promotion for 3,000 bonus points and had seen mixed reviews, but a short stay turned into two nights during my week-long trip. The people made it a five-star experience. Don't let the older reviews put you off. I'm glad I tried the hotel.

The idea of Martin and Meiying, imagined travelers who collected art and antiques worldwide, runs through the lobby, corridors, and suites. With 1920s Shanghai elegance alongside Siamese craftsmanship, vintage details, rich wood, and warm lighting, the place feels curated and visually distinctive. I can see it appealing most to people who care about art, heritage, and interiors. If you want design and character more than traditional luxury service, and enjoy vintage style and a strong sense of story, it offers something different in Bangkok. That may not suit everyone.
