Thaya Hotel Bangkok

The rooms are fairly large and check-in was easy, but I wouldn't come back. It felt like a three-star hotel with a pool, not a five-star one, and I suspect some reviews are fake. The corridor has no carpet, the doors feel cheap, and you can hear them slam. The walls are thin too, so a neighbor's TV comes through if they don't care about the noise. Don't book here if you want quiet.

The lobby couldn't provide drinking water when I asked, which felt unacceptable in Bangkok's heat for a hotel calling itself five-star. There was no help with my luggage when I arrived either. Thaya Hotel Bangkok was clean and fine, but the look and feel seemed four-star, without anything especially refined or luxurious. I've had better service at several four-star hotels, which made the gap between the branding and the actual experience disappointing. The hotel is being oversold as a luxury stay, so expectations need adjusting.

I live in Bangkok, and while my apartment was being renovated I booked two nights here. I liked it enough to add another night. The staff were the highlight, from check-in through to after checkout. I accidentally left my jewellery box in the safe, and when I called the next day they had found it, so I went back to collect it. The room was big, bright with natural light, very clean, and had a comfy bed. Breakfast service could be better. At 9:21 one morning there were no fried eggs left and no waitress in the restaurant. Someone who seemed to be the owner went to the kitchen after about ten minutes, and then food started coming out again. For vegetarians there was only egg fried rice with no vegetables and fried noodles with egg, no tofu at all, which was a little disappointing. They did have some salad and fruit. The coffee was really bad from the machine, but there's a tao bin machine in the hotel where you can buy decent coffee for just 30 baat. Ordering food on the app was easy too, so that wasn't a problem. I'd definitely stay again.

From 9/22 to 25, I stayed here and found the breakfast quality too limited, with just two plates available, one for fried eggs and one for scrambled. The hotel isn't doing its job well. I had spent six nights at ibis Styles Bangkok Ratchada from 8/23 to 29 the month before, and breakfast there was better.
