We left early and moved to Chatrium Hotel Bangkok, where things felt brighter, cleaner, and much more suitable for a family holiday with kids. I won't be returning here. From arrival to departure, the place felt gloomy, outdated, and uncomfortable, and it never seemed like a welcoming holiday destination. Around 6 PM, as we were going out for dinner, children were screaming loudly as they played around the property. It was excessive and made an already stressful stay noisier. The staff also left a poor impression. A security guard who was doubling as a bellboy had very red eyes, struggled to stand while handling our luggage, and stared at guests in a way that unsettled us. At reception, an older dark-haired woman quoted an early check-in fee nearly as high as the room price, which seemed unreasonable. Another employee with a bowl haircut kept asking our room number even after we'd given it, making the process feel disorganized. A resident told us someone had allegedly fallen all the way down near the tennis court, and people there were circulating rumors that the property might be haunted. I can't say whether that story or the rumors were true, but the atmosphere already made us uneasy. In our experience, the staff need better training and professionalism. The service we encountered fell far below what we'd expect from a hotel presenting itself as suitable for guests and families.

The security staff were polite and friendly, and there's a gym and a laundry room you can use for an extra charge. The rooms are spacious, but ours hadn't been cleaned properly, including behind the headboard, and we had to ask for another cleaning. The key card repeatedly locked us out, so we kept having to go downstairs to get it reprogrammed. The hot tub was hot on the first night, then only lukewarm for the rest.

The price is pretty good, and the location worked well for getting around Bangkok. The cleaning staff were really nice and honest too. They found my daughter's earring and left it on the table, and we only noticed when we saw her ear. The room phone was out from the day I arrived and still hadn't been fixed after six days, so I had to go down to the lobby whenever I needed to ask something. The door card also kept sticking, and it took more than three or four tries to lock the door.

We travelled as a family and were given a suite. It was very clean, roomy, and worth the price, with a modern layout and a well-maintained, fully equipped kitchen. We loved Narathiwas and hope to come back. 🙌

The door security, maid, and dining room staff were all nice. The front desk team, though, were the least helpful and friendly I've ever dealt with. When I asked for an extra towel, they told me I'd have to wait until the next day because the housekeeper had left and nobody had the supply closet key. I'd never heard that used as a reason to refuse a towel.
