The Quart Ruamrudee by UHG

We stayed here twice, and had decent rooms and a pleasant visit both times. The hotel is clean overall, well located, and good for the money. The rooms are a little worn and dated, so a refresh would help, though that’s partly a matter of taste. The breakfast was very good and the staff were extremely kind and welcoming. We once left some belongings behind, and when we came back for our second stay, they returned everything to us. That was a real plus.

The staff were great. After our long flight, we wanted to lie in, and they cleaned our room when we asked for late afternoon. The internet was fast and easy to use, and the rooftop pool was clean and lightly attended. The gym had enough equipment to keep busy. The décor is a little dated, but the staff and overall presentation made that easy to forget. We spent four nights here. The room was bright and clean, with a big Android TV, an oversized king-size bed, crisp sheets, and fluffy towels. The bathroom was spacious, with free toothbrushes and paste, plenty of soap, and a large shower. There was a mini fridge with drinks and complimentary water each day. The street was quiet but close to what we needed, including two 7-11s. Nana and other areas were about a 30-minute walk, or we could take a local taxi on Bolt for a few quid. Lumpini was a 15-minute walk away, and there were local neighborhoods to explore. A Thai-style Catholic church was 100 meters away, and they were practicing Christmas carols when we stopped by. Would I stay here again? Absolutely.

The location is the best part, near the busy Sukhumvit area but in an upscale neighborhood, with good dining and wine bars nearby. Wireless Road and the US Embassy are just around the corner. Check-in was easy, and for reasons we weren’t told, one room was upgraded. The beds were comfortable and quiet, and there’s parking. We didn’t try the food and beverage outlets. The lobby still had Christmas decorations up, and with bags in every corner, it could have used the space better. The rooms and hallways could use some care. The pool was crowded, around 10 people, with only a few lounge chairs. The gym was adequate. I’d stayed at their sister hotel, the quarter, up the street, and the review there explains why I chose not to book it again. Our room phone rang at 12:00, with the attendant telling me to check out even though I’d requested a late checkout at an additional cost.

The rooftop pool was a perfect place for a late-night swim under the city lights. Our room was spotless and comfortable, just what we needed after a long flight. The staff were welcoming and went out of their way to help, and breakfast had a great spread to fuel a day of exploring. It was a seamless, friendly start to my holiday season in Thailand.
