The Sunrise Residence

As a base for sightseeing, this place is affordable and well located. Lumphini Park is a three or four minute walk, and the MRT is a couple of minutes farther. There's plenty of street food nearby, so don't be afraid to try it, and a 7/11 close by too. Parking is a bit tight, but I got my truck in without trouble. I'll come back if I'm in the area again. It's not a big international hotel. More like staying at Granny's house, clean and comfortable but old fashioned. Everyone was friendly. One afterthought: the aircon in room 301 needs servicing. It barely cooled for hours, then got too cold, and the controls didn't seem to work.

It has that roomy, comfortable feel of an older, respectable Bangkok hotel, with a nostalgic atmosphere. The place feels like a proper establishment in cosy Sathorn, yet it's very close to Si Lom bts station and Lumphini Park. Good value for the money, and even the solo room had a bathtub. The quality felt higher than at other hotels in the same price range around here. Recommended!

I've stayed here twice, in 2005 and again in 2023, and both visits were great. The people are honest, and the location is convenient for mbt and the skytrain. There was a security guard at night, the area felt very safe, and there's great food nearby. They also leave bottled water each day.

I'd have recommended the place until the electricity charge at checkout. They billed me 4700 baht for the month, bringing the total to 20k. If I'd known that beforehand, I would have stayed somewhere else. Even my Thai friends said it was a scam.
