Violet Tower at Khaosan Palace

The noise from the nightclubs below went on until 6:00 AM, so I barely slept. Khao San Road is fine for a night out, but I wouldn’t stay here, especially with a flight the next day. The toilet was blocked, with feces floating in it, and both the room and bathroom were extremely cramped. The sheets seemed unchanged and made my skin itch as soon as I lay down. This was genuinely terrible, not an exaggeration. Unless you’re only here to bring someone back for sex, think three times before booking. I really don’t recommend it.

The rooms are small, though clean, and there’s no lift, so I wouldn’t recommend this place for older people. It gets very loud in the evening because the building is next to One Khaosan restaurant, and even younger guests may find it hard to rest. We only stayed because I needed to catch a Lomprayah bus. Two stars for cleanliness, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The rooms are tiny, and the party music keeps going until 7 a.m. Don’t stay here if you’re hoping to sleep.

There’s no lift, and the narrow stairs make hauling 15/20kg luggage up to the upper floors a real struggle, especially for an international traveler. The rooftop pool is on the other side of the building, with no shade over the seats. In the Thai heat the water gets quite warm, and access ends at 9pm. At night, people sometimes walk along the corridors, knock on your door, then leave. The street is very noisy, and it can be hard to sleep before 4am. The room is smaller than the pictures suggest, and the AC takes a long time to cool it. The bathroom is tiny too, with barely enough room to fold your hand over the sink without splashing water around the lavatory. I strongly don’t recommend this hotel.
