VX The Fifty - Hostel

The reception staff were rude, and there’s very little nearby for tourists to do or see. The area felt more like staying in your own hometown than visiting somewhere new. Even basic activities and sightseeing mean traveling to other parts of the city. If money is extremely tight and you just need somewhere to get through one day, it might be fine. Otherwise, tourists should look elsewhere.

I didn’t end up staying, but I want to share what happened. I booked through Booking.com and told the hotel in advance that I’d recently been exposed to bed bugs, trying to be open and responsible. The hotel refused my stay, which I can understand and accept. What bothered me was how they spoke to me. Staff said my experience was “impossible,” which felt dismissive and insulting when I was simply trying to be honest and avoid any risk to the hotel. They also said they had CCTV evidence about the situation. I’d like the hotel to explain this properly and communicate clearly. If not, I may formally document the incident and request access to that evidence for possible legal action. I hope management takes this seriously and treats customers with more respect in situations like this. Wynn

The room and toilets were clean, and the staff were nice. The air conditioning made the room too cold at night, though, and the Wi-Fi was a bit slow at times. There are a couple of small parks nearby. The back garden is lovely, with a gorgeous tree, plants, and a cat. It would be more peaceful if the water pump or whatever that machine is didn’t make so much noise. You can also hear the road in the background. Not bad! Thank God.

The location wasn’t convenient, and that added to an already poor stay. At check-in, one staff member was sitting back with their feet up, wearing headphones and talking on the phone while guests waited. They didn’t acknowledge anyone or show any urgency. It felt really unprofessional. The common areas looked dirty and badly maintained too. Honestly, I’d avoid VX Fifty Hotel.
