Zircon Hotel

I’d avoid this hotel if you want to save time and avoid a hassle. I booked and paid the full amount online 10 days ahead, and got confirmation for both. Then, on check-in day, they cancelled because they had no room for me. They didn’t seem to take the booking very seriously. Unbelievable.

Cockroaches were in the rooms, and the hotel was generally very dirty. Staff’s only suggested fix was spraying insecticide before we went in, which felt unsafe and inappropriate because of the health risks. They offered to move us, and we agreed after being assured the new room was cockroach-free. As soon as we entered, though, there were cockroaches by the bathroom entrance too. The hotel didn’t arrange or guarantee us another place to stay, so we had to sort it out ourselves. It was a very unsatisfactory experience and a serious public health concern. We were told this had been going on for months. The hotel should be closed until the issue is properly fixed.

The room was decent for the price, though the bathroom could use a better shower, and there was a lot of fluff under the bed. Everything felt slow. The politeness was reasonable, but in my opinion a 1 hour 45 minute check-in is unreasonable.

The gym was one of the main reasons I booked, but every piece of equipment was broken and in very poor condition. Honestly, it was disgusting. My room, 305, also wasn’t very clean when I checked in. I found a water bottle under the bed and someone’s nail, which was unpleasant. The room wasn’t soundproof either. The receptionists were nice. Breakfast was ordered from a menu rather than served as the buffet I expected, but the food tasted good. The location was okay, with a 7-Eleven and a few restaurants nearby.
