Talay Hotel & Villa

Cha Am feels really quiet and laid-back, even compared with Krabi or Bang Sean. There’s plenty of shade from the palm trees, pine trees, and beach umbrellas, with crystal-clear water.

The atmosphere is peaceful, and the room was nice. It’s close to the beach and a 7-11, with food easy to find nearby. The staff were really kind too.

The room was quiet on the first floor, with plenty of space for our things and luggage. The Wi-Fi was strong, there was enough parking, and the hotel is clean and close to both the beach and restaurants, including a 7-11. Breakfast was fine, even if the choices were limited. I especially loved the refreshing, relaxing smell of the shampoo and body wash. One small concern is the pool area: the artificial grass holds dirt and water, so I wondered about its cleanliness.

The staff were friendly and helped quickly when the air conditioning failed during my second night. At 1:30 a.m. I woke up sweating, even though the fan was on. A young staff member checked the ceiling vent, found the compressor wasn't running, and arranged another room two doors away. I moved my things and got back to sleep in cool air. They speak very little English, but that wasn't a problem. I liked the hotel and would return. I stayed three nights in February 2020. My room was nice, quiet at the back, and about a five-minute walk from the beach. It was clean, breakfast was good and made to order, and the Wi-Fi was okay but not great. The bed was a little hard, and the cable TV had no English-language channels. The location was great.
