Chanthaburi Center Hotel

The people of chantaburi were a joy, so friendly, warm, and kind, the best in Thailand. That made the stay worth it, but the hotel itself felt like a rip off: a 500 bt room charged at 800 bt. The air conditioner was so loud I had to switch it off to sleep, the bathroom smelled bad, and I got bitten by mosquitos. The fire escape door is left wide open all day, which feels like bad security, and cleaned empty rooms are left open too, letting mosquitos in. There was no breakfast, despite it being advertised.

The location, staff, and service were lovely. It's right by the bus station, a 10-minute walk from the park and 10 minutes from the food market. For about £18 a night, the air-conditioned rooms are good value. They're a bit tired, with peeling paint and leaky showers, but the gentle atmosphere and extremely kind staff make it a lovely place. Reception is open 24 hours. There's a small fridge downstairs where you can buy beer, water, and pepsi, and each morning they bring one loo roll and two bottles of water. Downstairs, Lollipop is a gorgeous restaurant run by a couple who trained in Australia and Bangkok. They speak fluent English, Thai, Mandarin, and Cantonese. Dope Coffee is a three-minute walk away. From the hotel, go up the hill and turn right to find a 24-hour laundromat. Thank you for having us.

The rooms are clean and the rates are competitive. It looks like the place may have been renovated recently. Sound carries between rooms, so they're not very soundproof. It's in the town center and easy to get to, with a Japanese restaurant and a bar/restaurant downstairs. A good fit for a quick business stay.

The room had enough space, was clean, and the shower had hot water with good pressure. Inside, the hotel looks well renovated, even though the exterior isn't nice. It's right next to the bus terminal, and the people were nice and helpful. A few receptionists spoke a little English. The internet worked well enough, but it seemed a room couldn't connect a third device to the wifi. We had two phones and a computer, so the computer couldn't get online.
