Khao Nam Khang Resort

Orchird home resort is a private, safe place near Chantaburi, and the price is good.

For 600 a night on weekdays, the room is very cheap. There's no breakfast, but it had coffee, snacks, and Ovaltine, plus air conditioning, a fridge, a hot water kettle, and plenty of electrical outlets. Everything was there. The owner speaks nicely. It's a wooden house with a peaceful feel and antique decor inside. Behind the room is a lotus pond with seats where you can enjoy the view from the front or back. Guests can also use the swimming pool at the nearby sports club.

There are restaurants in the village and along the canal, and the town is close by. The resort sits beside the Phakdi Ramphai canal, where you can ride a bicycle if you bring one, with short and long routes to choose from. It can feel a little secluded, but not scary. It's quiet and peaceful, with 10 affordable bungalows. The resort was built about 12 years ago. There's a village pool guests can use for free, from noon until evening.

The 600 baht price, when I visited in 2014, was far outweighed by the quality. There was a fitness center, swimming pool, large house, and seating indoors and out. The only drawback is that it's a bit far from the beach. It's close to tourist attractions and well-known food in town, including the Christian church and restaurants such as Chantharopochana and Je Pen Yentafo. Come see for yourself!
