Ama's House Luxury Boutique Hotel

The rooms at Ama's house were clean and a good size, but I was disappointed overall. There was a bad sewer smell in the shower that came and went, and sometimes lingered. Checking out was frustrating. Staff were reluctant to accept QR payment or a credit card, saying it was because our bill was under 1000THB. I’ve never heard of that in Thailand. This was also the only hotel where I’ve been asked to return the disposable plastic key cards. One was missing, and while our taxi was waiting with our luggage already packed, staff asked us to look through our bags and go back to the room for it. Since the cards are plastic and programmed at check-in, that felt surprising. If guests are expected to hand them in, they should be told or see a sign, instead of assuming they can be left in the room like at every other hotel I’ve stayed in. I also thought the rooms were overpriced. It definitely didn’t feel like a “5 star” hotel. I wouldn’t stay again unless there were no other options or the price came down to match the quality.

This hotel is a gem, and I recommend it. The rooftop pool and bar are lovely, and Sam the bartender is so nice and makes delicious cocktails. The staff were very friendly too.

We spent nye here and had a great location for exploring. Tha Phae Gate was within walking distance, with a great food market and night bazar right next door. The rooms were great too.

We stayed twice, and they kindly looked after our luggage between visits. Everyone was friendly from arrival through the rest of the stay. The hotel offers great value for its price and location. Our room was huge, with a large bath in the room, a generous shower room, a big fridge and a cute little sitting nook. It was well soundproofed, with only a little noise getting through even during a very busy period that included Christmas eve. There’s a food court right next door where we ate many times, and a laundry across the street.
