Cozytel Chiangmai

Chiang Mai was still a great time, but this hotel was just okay. The rooms are very basic, and the shower pressure wasn’t great. Some facilities felt a little run down, and there was a slight sewer smell in the bathroom. The location was fine, but we didn’t have the experience suggested by the other reviews and photos. It works as a budget option if you lower your expectations. Nothing special.

The cleaning staff were polite and very nice, and the location was good, but we won’t return. We weren’t expecting much, yet the receptionists really need to get their act together. The night receptionist was playing a game during check-in. He barely looked at us, focused on his phone, and when I asked him to help with my wife’s baggage, he held her backpack in one hand while continuing to play with the other. It was both comic and tragic. We also tried to extend our stay. A very nice intern gave us the wrong price, apparently by mistake. Half an hour later, a man took over when we went to reserve, said only a bigger room was available at a higher price, and blamed her. He should have taken responsibility instead of blaming someone who was learning. There were many ways to handle it, but he said ironically, “only cost 400 b more for you and sorry.” We declined. The way he handled a small mistake left an empty room and upset guests, and it was no way to teach a student. We left for a much nicer hotel that was better value.

The location was awesome, and the rooms were comfy with great staff. Having an elevator for the upper floors was really convenient. The pool was freezing because it gets no sun.

A clean, comfortable room and a beautiful swimming pool made this little hotel a lovely find. It’s right in the center of the old town and well worth the price.
