Gumpuju คำปู้จู้

I stayed at Gumpuju for a week in December with three others, after booking a month ahead on a friend’s recommendation. She’d been here a couple of times and was very happy with it. The host welcomed us warmly. Our room was large enough for four and very clean, with a king-size bed, big smart TV with Netflix, table, couch, huge closet, and a bathroom with a showerhead. There was Wi-Fi, towels, dishes, and other hygiene products. The furniture was good quality and the interior design was lovely. I especially liked relaxing on the rooftop, with its calm, beautiful view of Doi Suthep. The hotel is in Mae Hia, about 10 minutes from Chiang Mai International Airport and close to a market, department store, and the old town. Gumpuju means marigold flower in northern Thai. The price felt inexpensive for what we got. They can also arrange airport transfers, motorcycles, or car rentals. I was very satisfied and have nothing to complain about. Chiang Mai is a beautiful northern Thai city with mountains, traditions, artwork, Buddhist architecture, and nature, plus activities like hiking, temple visits, crafts, walking street, and local food. I’d recommend staying here whether you’re visiting for a few days or a few months.

The rooms are beautiful and come with the linens and towels you need. Mine had a king-size bed, sleeper sofa, full-size refrigerator, dining table, and work desk. The bathroom was huge, with a waterfall shower head, a smaller shower head, and a wall-to-wall mirror. These sisters run the hotel or condos, and I can’t say enough good things about the place. It was my best stay in Thailand. The area is peaceful, though being near the airport means you’ll hear planes taking off. They offer month-long stays too, and you can rent for a year for 8000 baht with electricity included.

I stayed twice, once at the start of my loop from Chiang Mai and again before heading back to Bangkok. It’s very close to the airport, and I booked directly for just 480 Bath a night. The host is really good at keeping the place arranged around what guests need. My room had everything: plenty of towels, utensils, microwave, kettle, dryer, and a 65 inch sony TV with netflix. It was all completely clean and tidy.

The bed was easily the most comfortable I’ve slept in during eight months of traveling around Asia. The rooms are huge, spotless, and very comfortable, with plenty of space and everything you need. Each has a fridge, microwave, dishes, desk, and TV. These might be the best private rooms in the whole city. Simply amazing.
