Hongkhao Village

Having a scooter available to rent right there made getting around easy, and breakfast among all the greenery was a lovely, peaceful start to the day. The staff were warm and attentive throughout, and the laundry was excellent for a very reasonable price. Our clothes came back clean, fragrant, and neatly pressed. The whole place felt like coming home, somewhere with a soul where we could properly unwind from everyday stress. We felt at ease, more like part of the home than hotel guests. I’ll definitely return on my next visit.

The hotel sits on a quiet back street south of the inner city, by the river, and we heard no noise at night. The staff were friendly and genuinely helpful: when a typo meant Elephant Nature Park couldn’t contact me about changing one of my excursions, the receptionist sorted it out and stayed in touch with them. I loved the delicious breakfast in its gorgeous, old-time-looking dining area. The pool was just the right temperature, and my spacious room was beautifully decorated, with a big bathroom, bathtub, and unlimited hot water. The AC worked well and the large bed was very comfortable, with a substantial cover. It’s a truly beautiful little hotel, with such careful attention to detail and traditional local Lanna style throughout. A real five star stay.

The personal feel and small scale made this a lovely place to begin our holiday. We stayed for three days at the end of December and had a wonderful time. The rooms and breakfast were great, the courtyard was beautiful, and the staff were fantastic. They helped us every day, and nothing felt like too much trouble.

We’re so glad we found Hongkhao Village in Chiang Mai. It’s a lovely hidden gem, cozy, clean, welcoming, and really well kept. The common areas have comfortable spots to relax, and the rooms are just as lovely. The pool was amazing and breakfast was delicious. The staff were incredibly sweet, helpful, and trustworthy. It worked well for our group with our one-year-old and our friends’ six- and nine-year-olds. I highly recommend it to anyone after a smaller, family-friendly place.
