Just Chill Inn - Hostel

I had a clean private room with soft, good-quality linens and towels. There were hooks on the wall for clothes and towels, which made things easy, and a shared fridge in the common room. That room locks later in the evening, so keep that in mind if your private room has its own outside entrance. The location is very convenient for great wats and Lana Square nightlife. June was a fantastic host who helped with bookings and good prices. I’d suggest asking her before booking tours online. I wanted to stay longer, but she was fully booked.

The price is very good, and you’re close to nice restaurants and bars. The rooms are simple but pleasant and bright, with very comfortable beds. Everything was very clean, including the shared bathrooms, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I’d come back anytime.

The host was friendly and my room was clean, though the hostel itself is a bit old. Noise from bars nearby carried into the night, so light sleepers might want earplugs. The room was very well ventilated and got a little cold at night. The lights were so dim that reading or writing was difficult, and the only outlet was by the door, which wasn’t very convenient. I’d suggest new light shades, an extension cord, and an extra blanket.

We had problems with both the laundry bill and a tour booking. When we arrived, we paid for our room and laundry, but later a staff member used a translation app to tell us they’d lost our laundry and needed more money because of a “miscount.” We were confused at first but paid the extra amount. Then the owner asked for even more, which was frustrating. The staff also gave us a flyer for a VIP slow boat tour and promised food and a guide. Once we were in Laos, we found we’d actually been booked on the standard tour, at a much higher price than if we’d booked it ourselves in the city. There’s an owner and one staff member who communicate a lot but sometimes get things mixed up.
