Nida Rooms Starry Sky Chang Phuek

Some rooms have a really good view of the doi suthep mountains and forest, and it’s a good base for hiking, with the trails into the hills starting about 1.5km away. Cleanliness was around 6.5 out of 10, which felt low for this pricepoint, where I’d expect at least 8/10. Check-in at 14.00 is a bit late too. 12.00 would be better.

The room was a nightmare. It was old, dirty, noisy, and smelled bad, and the bedroom light was way too dim. The towel and blanket smelled too. I couldn’t get an extra pillow, and the shower head was covered in rust, which made me nervous to use it. The TV remote was so hard to use that I left the TV on all night.

The room had ants, and some of the wooden coating was splintered. There was mould in the shower, with soap left behind by the previous guest. At night, the low-floor rooms facing the roadside are noisier than the others.

I’d already booked and paid for a room, but on arrival I was told none were available, so I had to find somewhere else to spend the night. I’m still waiting for the service to return my money. The hotel doesn’t seem to control booking services. I strongly recommend checking your reservation after payment.
