The Aussie guy with tattoos seems like he could have a good sense of humor, but he also seems burned out by whatever it is. I'd avoid this guesthouse.

Thapae Gate is only 100-150m away, and it's an entry point to the Old City. On Sundays the road closes for the Walking St Market. The guesthouse is right in central Chiang Mai, with clean, comfortable rooms, cold Aircon after a hot day, and a hot, powerful shower. There's a social area at reception if you want to relax or meet other guests. The girl at reception gave me a warm welcome, and the owners were on hand too. They really helped me arrange a 1 or 2 day experience at an Ethical Elephant Sanctuary, which I don't think we'd have managed without them. Thanks so much, Jinny. I also had a couple of beers with the owner Wally or was it Pauly? He's a good guy and knows a lot about the local area. I'll definitely return to Born Guesthouse next time I'm in Chiang Mai.

There was a slight drain smell, which I mentioned to the owners, and they paid attention to it. The room was clean and had AC, water, coffee, and tea. The owners were incredibly kind and helpful, with great advice on places to visit and things to do. I had a fantastic stay and wholeheartedly recommend it. Big thanks for the wonderful hospitality!

Only five minutes on foot from the old town, and amazing value for money. We booked at very short notice and stayed three nights. The room was very clean, and the service was good.
